LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Redditch Station: mrred418
The coaling stage at Redditch which was a very rudimentary
structure being built from railway sleepers. The shelter was thought by Bob
Essery to have been a later addition. The degree of manual labour involved in
the days of steam is well illustrated in the image above because the coal would
have been unloaded by hand from a wagon similar to that seen on the left and
then loaded into the tender.
