Ex-LNWR 7F No 8895, a Bowen-Cooke class G2a locomotive, is seen stabled with other engines alongside Saltley shed's No 3 roundhouse

Ex-LNWR 7F No 8895, a Bowen-Cooke class G2a locomotive, is seen stabled with other engines alongside Saltley shed's No 3 roundhouse on 14th August 1937. Whilst an ex-LNWR locomotive and more at home at the former LNWR sheds at Aston or Monument lane the locomotive has been allocated to Saltley as evident by the 21A shed plate. It would appear that Saltley shed staff have chalked the locomotive's number on the front cylinder covers in the absence of a smokebox number plate. Built in August 1922 by Crewe works, No 8895 remained in service until December 1964 when it was withdrawn from Bescot shed to be scrapped in May 1965 by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
