View of Selly Oak station's new built brick replacement signal box some six months prior to be fitted out with lever frames etc on 27th July 1957. The new box employs concrete steps with each tread cantilevered from a central spine whilst the windows are fitted with large panes and would be cleanable from inside the box unlike its timber predecessor which required a footwalk to be erected outside of the box. Behind the two signal boxes an unknown former Midland Railway 0-6-0 3F is seen shunting the yard.
