Despite the apparent over lap on the Diagram there were no physical connections between the LNWR's and MR's facilities. Exchange of traffic would require the wagons to be moved via the exchange line connecting the MR and LNWR lines. In reality this would rarely if ever occur as both companies would deliver or collect goods from local merchants etc through their own services.
