Ex-Midland Railway 0-6-0 2F No 58261 is seen shunting at the West end of Washwood Heath's down sidings

Ex-Midland Railway 0-6-0 2F No 58261 is seen passing under the ex-LNWR bridge whilst shunting at the West end of Washwood Heath's down sidings on 27th April 1957. Bob Essery comments in Midland Record No 26 that the ex-MR's Class 2F locomotives were still being used in the Birmingham area being ideal for many of the local trip workings. Built by Dubbs & Co circa 1892 it was numbered, post-1907, as Midland Railway No 3423 which it retained during LMS ownership but was then renumbered by British Railways as No 58261 remaining as such until January 1960 when it was withdrawn from Saltley shed to be scrapped by Derby works.
