Ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48619 weaves its way through Whitacre
Station on a coal train for Hams Hall. The line seen on the right is the
Hampton branch whilst on the left is the timber waiting room located on the up
platform for trains to both Derby and Leicester. The entrance to the station
was off to the left of the timber waiting room with passengers needing to cross
to the island platform by footbridge in order to purchase their tickets. Built
by the Southern Railway's Ashford works in October 1943, No 48619 remained in
service until March 1966 when it was withdrawn from 16G Westhouses shed.
