The height and shape of the entrance has been designed to accommodate the passage of a locomotive through the shed although judging from the height of the doors it is clear security was not thought a major issue their being only tall enough to stop a little casual pilfering. Not very distinct in this photograph is the platform that was built on the right inside the shed. This aided the loading and unloading of heavy goods between the rail and road vehicles and would be used to store large items. The LMSR poster board would have at one stage advertised freight rates, special notices as well as displaying the company's Terms & Conditions.
