GWR Route: Stratford on Avon to Honeybourne

Stratford-on-Avon Racecourse Platform: gwr_src1436

Ex-GWR 4-6-0 Hall class No 6944 'Fledborough Hall' is seen with a train of empty banana vans on the connecting spur from the former SMJ to the former GWR line on 23rd May 1964. The Racecourse platforms can just be seen on the right of the photograph. Built at Swindon works to Lot 340 in September 1942 No 6994 was to remain in service until November 1965 when it was withdrawn from the Severn Tunnel Junction shed to be scrapped in February 1966 by J Buttigieg of Newport. The locomotive and train can be seen entering the avoiding line in image 'gwr_src2460'.
