Ex-GWR 0-6-0PT No 3673, a class 57xx locomotive, is seen at the head of a freight passing under the former Midland line to Camp Hill en-route to Hockley Goods yard. Built at Swindon works to Lot 325 in April 1940 No 3673 remained in service until May 1964 when it was withdrawn from Tyseley shed being scrapped in September 1964 by J Cashmore of Newport. The 57xx design, built in 1929, was so successful that the size of the class demanded that the 5700 class locomotives were spread across several series of numbers. Therefore other series of numbers were used and when these had been fully allocated a new series would be allocated. The following numbers were allocated: No 3600 to No 3699; No 3700 to No 3799; No 4600 to No 4699; No 5700 to No 5799; No 6700 to No 6779; No 7700 to No 7799; No 8700 to No 8799; No 9600 to No 9682 and No 9701 to No 9799.
