An unidentified GWR 517 class 0-4-2T is seen drawing water from the canal carried by Edstone aqueduct. This scene predates the construction of the North Warwickshire line which passed to the left of the Alcester branch line at this point. The sleepers on the track are covered with ballast a common practice on railways in the 19th century.
