GWR 4-6-0 Castle class No 5079 'Lysander' negotiates the North Junction with the 3.20pm Wolverhampton to Paddington express

By the late 1950s the Bearley North Curve was overgrown with weeds, but engineering works at Rowington Water Troughs necessitated it as a diversionary route on two successive Sundays (24th May and 31st May 1959). GWR 4-6-0 Castle class No 5079 'Lysander' negotiates the North Junction with the 3.20pm Wolverhampton to Paddington express on 24th May 1959. The last passenger working on the curve was a SLS special on Saturday 1st July 1959 and the Bearley North Junction was finally taken out of use on 20th November 1960.
