GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Birmingham Snow Hill Station: gwrbsh1133
Looking along Platform 5 from the steps to the over bridge
in the direction of Wolverhampton showing the major clear up operation on 10th
April 1941 following the air raid. The repairs only addressed tidying up the
station with the major work being left until after the end of the Second World
War. According to Derek Harrison in his book Salute to Snow Hill, 'In 1945 the
Great Western Railway announced plans for a complete station repair programme
including the bomb-damaged roof on the Snow Hill side of the former Great
Western Hotel, which was virtually renewed.'
