Passengers look at the Special Notice advertising emergency services being operated during the rail strike in on 30th May 1955. The strike was by ASLEF locomotive members who represented the majority of footplate staff on the railways. However a few staff were members of the National Union of Railwaymen and were not on strike and these are the staff who manned the emergency services during the strike.
