View of the basic layout of Snow Hill station after completion of the extensive rebuild between 1906 and 1912, showing the surrounding streets and tram lines in Snow Hill and Livery Street. Unable to widen the station due to the bordering thoroughfares the platforms were transformed into islands and extended northwards (left on the plan) bridging over Great Charles Street resulting in four main faces and additional bay platforms, one of which featured a sector plate for loco release. This plan shows the covered area of the station, the two through lines being 'visible' through the vent in the glazed roof to allow smoke to escape. On the right is the open area behind the Great Western Hotel (used as offices from this time) through which Snow Hill South Signal Box can be seen. Gerry Foley
