GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Birmingham Snow Hill Station: gwrbsh1190
A diesel shunter acts a station pilot and marshals parcel
vans in Platform 7 on the last day of services to Paddington on 5th March 1967.
Due to the electrification of the West Coast mainline including the
Rugby-Birmingham-Stafford route, Snow Hill was the main source of Birmingham to
London traffic in the early to mid-1960s but all of this ceased in March 1967
when direct express services to London were transferred to New Street station.
However local services continued to be operated from Snow Hill to Wolverhampton
Low Level railway station for a further five years.
