British Railways Type 4 Brush diesel locomotive D1688 is
seem on the inaugural run of the class between Shrewsbury and Paddington on
14th June 1964. Ordered on 4th September 1962 and built by Brush Falcon Works
D1688 was entered service on 21st November 1963 and allocated to Oxley shed ran
in two-tone green livery until re-numbered as 47101 in March 1974. Wearing
British Rail's Standard Blue corporate livery 47101 remained in service until
March 1989 when it was allocated to Crewe for withdrawal but not scrapped until
January 1994 by Booth Roe of Rotherham.
