Birmingham Snow Hill - British Railways Period Locomotives: gwrbsh1293

British Railways built 4-6-2 Rebuilt Battle of Britain class No 34088 '213 Squadron' is seen emerging from the gloom of Snow Hill tunnel and passing Snow Hill South Signal Box whilst at the head of a down football special on 27th April 1963. Originally built at Brighton works in December 1948 in 'Air-Smoothed' form, No 34088 was rebuilt at Eastleigh works by Riddles in April 1960 and in this formed remained in service until March 1967 when it was withdrawn from Eastleigh works to be scrapped in March 1968 by J Cashmore of Newport.
