A colourisation by Stephen Arrandale of BJ Ashworth's photograph of ex-GWR 4-6-0 King class No 6002 'King William IV' is seen standing at Platform 7 at the head of the 6 30am express service from Birkenhead to Paddington on 18th August 1962. Leaving Birmingham at 10 am No 6002 will call at Leamington Spa and Banbury before completing the journey to London in two hours. Built at Swindon works to Lot 243 in July 1927 No 6002 was to remain in service for only a matter of a few weeks before being withdrawn in September 1962 from Stafford Road shed in Wolverhampton to be scrapped during February 1963 by Cox & Danks of Langley Green near Oldbury.
