A view of the new Snow Hill Station as the rebuilding work nears completion, taken from a point midway up Snow Hill. At the lower end of Snow Hill with the corner of Great Charles Street is the new four storey office block. At street level next to this was the entrance to the parcels yard (note the white wall), while the four apertures fenced with railings provided light into the parcels yard under the station. When the station was finally demolished some of these attractive railings were salvaged and re-erected on the Broad Street canal bridge. The massive girders which provided structural support for the station and its trackwork can be seen above these apertures. This upper part of the station was illuminated by natural light flooding in through the glazed roof and huge lantern windows. When this photograph was taken these windows were still awaiting the glazing of their lower portions.
