It's 5 am on a Sunday morning in 1966, and this grainy photo shows me fast asleep covering the Engine Control and the Locomens & Guards Relief desks. There's only three staff on duty (each working 12 hours, 10pm to 10am) and as the only trains running on the patch at this time were ballast trains, we took it in turns to catch up on a bit of sleep. We were closed down in 1967.
