Scene on Birmingham Snow Hill Main Down Platform’s Nos 5 and 6 on Friday 30th May 1952. It is easy to see why Snow Hill was such a popular station when looking at the bright spacious platform in this photograph. Many of the passengers congregating for the next train are watching the guard wave his flag by the open door of the guard’s compartment in the final brake third coach. The preceding coach is a toplight full third class corridor coach, which will be over thirty years old.
