Ex-GWR 2-6-2T 'Small Prairie' No 4555 is seen running bunker first through Snow Hill station's up middle through road at the head of a Class J empty freight train service on 8th August 1963. Built at Swindon works in September 1924, No 4555 was initially allocated to Tyseley shed and remained in service predominantly based at Machynlleth shed for much of its life until December 1963 when it was withdrawn from Laira shed. Now preserved following its purchase by local businessman Pat Whitehouse it ran for a short period in the Birmingham area in its original GWR livery as seen above.
