GWR 2-4-0T 'Metro Tank' No 460 is seen in half-cab form whilst whilst simmering and standing at Platform 3 at the head of a local passenger train circa 1920. To the right is a crouched figure, thought to be the fireman, who seems to be letting water out of pipe at rear of locomotive. Originally built at Swindon works in February 1869 No 460 was already more than fifty years in service when this photograph was taken and still had another dozen to go before being withdrawn in May 1932 from Bath Road shed in Bristol before being scrapped by Swindon works.
