Coal being unloaded from a Private Owner wagon into the horse drawn cart on Claverdon's loading bank

Shortly after the Stratford on Avon Railway Company was absorbed by the Great Western in 1883, the single siding at Claverdon Station was converted into a 500 ft long loop line and a loading bank constructedcirca 1907 . The platform mounted signal box was taken out of use around 1906 and two ground frames were provided to control the points and signals at each end of the loop. These ground frames could only be unlocked by keys on their respective staffs. One of these ground frames was sited near the occupation bridge visible in the distance. Here coal is being unloaded from a Private Owner (PO) wagon into the horse drawn cart on the loading bank, while the coalmen and station staff pose for the camera. The nearest wagon seems to be loaded with bricks whilst the others appear to be coal wagons.
