Ex-Great Western Railway 0-4-2T 58xx Class No 5815 pauses to run bunker first on a local stopping service to Leamington

Ex-Great Western Railway 0-4-2T 58xx Class No 5815 pauses to run bunker first on a local stopping service to Leamington. The photograph was taken from the ramp leading down to the up platform in the 1950s. At the top of the photograph can be seen the reinforced concrete footbridge and the ramp to the down platform. The 58xx class were virtually identical to the 48xx class, but as they were intended for branch and shunting work, they were built without auto-gear and automatic train control. Locomotive No 5815 was built at Swindon in August 1933, withdrawn from Swindon Works in April 1961 and scrapped at G Cohen, Morriston in June 1964. This locomotive was the last of the class to be withdrawn.
