GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Danzey for Tanworth Station: gwrdt1370
View of Danzey for Tanworth station's signal box which lay
at the Birmingham end of the station on the down side opposite the goods yard
circa 1964. The signal box was a typical GWR structure with sliding windows to
enable the signalman to clean them from inside the signal box. The levers were
positioned to the front under the windows enabling the signalman to control
their block section whilst viewing goods trains accessing the goods yard.
Robert Ferris adds, 'The signal box was a Great Western Standard Type 7D with
22 levers which was opened on 9th December 1907 and closed on 6th December
1970'.
