GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line

Danzey for Tanworth Station: gwrdt2829

In this view of Umberslade bridge the driveway is closed off by a timber vertical slatted gate and there are both temporary wagons and GWR wagons evident

Another photograph of the recently completed three arched skew masonry bridge over the driveway to Umberslade Hall in 1906. A different group of open wagons are on the contractor’s temporary track (see image 'gwrdt2830)' and these appear to be loaded with the stone off-cuts from the bridge construction. This sandstone stone was obtained from Derbyshire because the landowner had specified that the bridge should be constructed from the same stone as his property - Umberslade Hall (see 'gwrdt2832'). See images ''gwrha2820', 'gwrdt2823' and 'gwrdt2831' for more photographs of this unusual bridge.
