Goods traffic to and from the station ceased on 6th July 1964 and coincided with the decision under the Beeching Plan to divert main line traffic away from the route. The station buildings were removed entirely in the mid-1970s whilst the station name was shortened to Earlswood from 6th May 1974. The number of passenger tickets issued for 1913, 1923 and 1933 was respectively; 16,528; 21,856; and 15,379. The number of season tickets issued for the same years was 176; 581; and 832. With these and the figures quoted below it needs to be remembered that 1933 was four years after the Wall Street Crash and therefore the economic depression was in full flood.
