External view of Great Alne station taken circa 1955 showing the station building being converted to a private dwelling after the line's closure. The station was used for a short period during the Second World War as an unadvertised halt for workers from the Maudsley Lorry factory which had been moved from Coventry. Later it was used as a post office before becoming a private residence still retaining its railway routes by being preserved with station canopy and being called 'Station House'.
