Alcester branch being used to store crippled PO colliery and coal trader wagons during World War Two near Kinwarton. During both World Wars the country's branch lines were either lifted to use the railway lines elsewhere or use them to store wagons that required attention. Above we see this part of the Alcester branch being used to store coal or mineral wagons that required attention. The shortage of labour combined with the intense use of wagons without the normal levels of preventative maintenance normally carried out meant that literally tens of thousand wagons had to be stored across the country.
