Grimes Hill Halt: gwrgh87a

The Halt was lit by oil lamps and careful examination shows that they have been removed from inside the glass. The lamps would require filling and the wicks trimming and their absence probably means that they have been removed for this purpose. The glass sides of the lamps are at 45° to the platform meaning that lamp presents two glass faces to passengers alighting from the train. Each of the two front glass sides are coloured at the top with the legend 'Grimes Hill Halt' reversed out thereby providing an illuminated name of the Halt.
