GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line

Henley in Arden - Original Station: gwrha1382

Looking in the direction of Lapworth along the platform with the station starter signal at the platform end and the goods shed in the near distance

Looking in the direction of Lapworth along the platform with the station starter signal at the platform end and the goods shed in the near distance circa 1900-5. On the left is the brick built stables whilst out of sight opposite the goods shed to the right was the original signal box which was decommissioned in 1908 when passengers services were withdrawn. The horses stabled at the station would have served two functions. The first would be to pull the GWR's dray when delivering goods to local merchants. The second would be to shunt wagons in the goods yard the most economic method of handing the few wagons that would be delivered or dispatched each day.
