GWR Route: Birmingham and Henley in Arden Railway
Company
Lapworth to Henley in Arden Branch Line: gwrha2786
The Henley-in-Arden Railway opened for passengers on 6th
June 1894 and to goods traffic on 2nd July 1894. This was almost thirty-three
years after the first Act of Parliament was granted for the railway on 28th
June 1861 (see 'gwrha3909'). These events of 1894
were recorded and marked by:
- An official notice advertising the opening of the route
from Kingswood to Henley-in-Arden. Kingswood station was later renamed Lapworth
station in 1902.
- The striking and issue of commemorative medallions.
