GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Henley in Arden - New Station: gwrha470
Looking North in 1908 from the Stratford on Avon end of the
down platform towards Birmingham showing the grandness of the station when it
first opened. The commodious station buildings were constructed in a standard
architectural style adopted by the Great Western for the majority of its new
stations around the turn of century. The platforms were brick faced with stone
paving to the platform edges and to the area immediately in front of the
station buildings. Compacted gravel was used elsewhere on the platform. Gas
lighting was provided by lampposts along the platform and suspended lamps under
the canopies.
