The footbridge continued to the West of the station continuing a right of way and footpath from the station approach to the fields on the other side of the station. Each of the waiting rooms and offices were provided with coal fires to provide warmth during the winter months. Responsibility for cleaning the fires and ensuring the coal bucket was fully stocked was given to one of the porters on duty.
