Looking towards Snow Hill showing the old Outwards and Tranship shed and the steelwork for the new Invoice Office being erected on the right (see image 'gwrhd679'). The two storey building on the right hand corner of the Outwards and Tranship shed is the Night office which had a 'lock-up' underneath at ground level. A close up view can be seen in image 'gwrhd715'. This was to be demolished as part of the remodelling of the yard. The initial work being undertaken during 1938 to accommodate the 'Top' shed, as it would become known, was the re-alignment of the approach roads and the adjacent sidings.
