Close up of image 'gwrhd686' showing the advanced works being carried out in the vicinity of the North Gate leading out to Pitsford Street. Its interesting to note some of the features adopted by the railway when developing infrastructure. The Night office seen on the corner of the Outwards and Transit shed has a canopy curved in line with the siding below. The curve being determined by the radius of the siding when fanned out from the approach road. Being built in parallel to the Night office is another platform wall for the 'Top' shed. The steelwork contractor EC & J Keay Ltd were based in Birmingham, Darlington and London. The steel work is being encased in concrete as is indicated by the formwork being erected to one of the steel beams.
