GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hockley Station: gwrhd712
View of several Box Vans ready to be loaded on 2nd November
1939 including one from the LNER. Each wagon has planks laid across from the
platform to the floor of the vehicle to enable access by the porter's two-wheel
barrows. Each siding had a buffer (stop block) at the end comprised of a
substantial piece of timber mounted on a steel frame. Whilst traffic from
Hockley would primarily be carried in GWR wagons, dedicated loads emanating
from outside their territory and the common user policy meant vehicles from
other companies would also be seen, as evident by the LNER box van.
