GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hockley Station: gwrhd750
View of the new Top shed's cartage area and the canopy
erected over No 1 platform to provide protection from inclement weather circa
1940. Whilst principally used for access to the shed by road vehicles, a
mixture of motor lorries and horse-drawn wagons, there was also a railway line
laid alongside the deck. The hut in the foreground, once the building
contractors foreman's office, is now used by the GWR as a gateman's lodge. The
Lorry standing adjacent to the brick building is being weighed on the north
entrance weighbridge.
