GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Hall Green Station: gwrhg1114a
Close up of image 'gwrhg1114' showing the passenger
facilities on the down platform and the footbridge which connected passengers
from the access road to both platforms. On the extreme right the signal arm is
in the off position (pointing downwards). Behind the signal is an area of the
bridge abutment painted white to act as a sighting board to help make the
signal more visible. On the platform are milk churns used to transport milk
from outlying farms to the residential areas of towns and cities via the
railway's stations. These would be placed in to the guards compartment of local
passenger trains and dropped off at the appropriate station to be collected by
a merchant and then returned the same or following evening.
