GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Hatton Station: gwrhj103b

Close up showing the trackwork to the south of the station together with the original Hatton South Signal Box

Close up of image 'gwrhj103' showing the trackwork to the south of the station together with the original Hatton South Signal Box. This appears to be a Great Western type 4 design (notice the large porch and closet at the top of the stairs). It was built in the 1880s and closed in 1936 after being replaced by the new South Signal Box (see gwrhj106a), but the building remained on site for a number of years, with the operating floor being used by station staff as a greenhouse. In this view the prefabricated corrugated iron goods lock up can be seen on the up platform but there is no grounded coach body. A ventilated covered wagon (MINK) can be seen in the mileage siding.
