GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hatton Station: gwrhj1919
Ex-GWR 4-6-0 No 5955 'Garth Hall' passes over Hatton North
Junction with a down express service circa 1960. Built at Swindon works to Lot
297 in December 1935 No 5955 remained in service until April 1965 when it was
withdrawn from 82E Barrow Road shed in Bristol. To the left of the locomotive
can be seen the start of the points for the up loop which ran parallel to the
line to Hatton South Junction. Built in 1892 as a refuge siding (which required
the train to be reversed into the siding) it was converted into a loop line
allowing trains to enter directly in 1901.
