GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Hatton Station: gwrhj1925

Ex-GWR 4-6-0 No 6005 'King George II' enters the station on the 2:20pm Paddington to Birkenhead

Ex-GWR 4-6-0 No 6005 'King George II' enters the confines of the station at the head of the 2:20pm Paddington to Birkenhead in 1957. The signals seen above are on the left, the up home starter whilst on the right is a bracket signal with two arms controlling access from the branch platform either on to the up main line for Warwick (the left hand signal) or on to the down goods line (the right hand signal). In the distance next to the small hut is a single post carrying three signal arms. These control access from the down goods loop as follows: The top arm is for the siding on the extreme right, the middle arm for accessing the branch platform and the bottom arm for passage on to the down main line. Prior to 1937 the original Hatton South Signal Box was located near to this signal. In the background are more signals controlling the down refuge siding and goods loop line.
