GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Handsworth & Smethwick: gwrhs1588
Ex-LMS Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No 48543 is seen passing through the
station whilst at the head of an up freight on 31st December 1964. On the right
a three-car Diesel Multiple Unit is departing Platform 2 on a local service to
Wolverhampton. Built for the LMS by Darlington Plant in January 1945 No 48543
was to remain in service until February 1966 when it was withdrawn from 9D
Newton Heaton shed to be scrapped.
