GWR 4-6-0 Star class No 4048 'Princess Victoria' is at the head of express with a Siphon G immediately behind the tender circa 1927. Built in May 1914 it was first allocated to Stafford Road shed in Wolverhampton. Temporarily named 'Princess Mary' in celebration of her marriage to the Prince of Wales, later King George V, on the 28th March 1922. The need to provide better internal streamlining to increase fuel efficiency led to elbow type outside steam pipes being fitted in August 1932. It remained in service until it was withdrawn from Landore shed in Swansea in January 1953.
