GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Knowle & Dorridge Station: gwrkd128
Ex-London South Western Railway's superheated Class L12 No
418 is seen at the head of an express comprised of Southern coaching stock near
Knowle and Dorridge in September 1929. Built at Nine Elms works in July 1904
this Drummond design was essentially a Greyhound chassis fitted with a large
boiler. Given the running number 30418 by British Railways it remained in
service until June 1951 when it was withdrawn from Fratton shed to be scrapped
by Eastleigh works.
