GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

British Railways built Castle Class 4-6-0 No 7008 'Swansea Castle' departs the station with the 4:05pm Wolverhampton to Oxford slow train on Sunday 10th July 1960. On the right is the 4:30pm Wolverhampton to Paddington service, with which the Oxford bound train was scheduled to connect, thereby providing passengers from intermediate stations with a London service. Built by Swindon works in May 1948, No 7008 was to remain in service until September 1964 when it was withdrawn from 81A Old Oak Common shed.
