An unidentified ex-GWR 4-6-0 Castle class locomotive is seen at the head of the up 'Cornishman' as it passes a train standing in the refuge siding. From 30th June 1952 BR named the Wolverhampton to Penzance express 'The Cornishman'. This train together with others on the Wolverhampton to West Country route were introduced with the opening by the GWR of its new main line formed through the construction of the North Warwickshire line and the upgrading of the Stratford to Honeybourne route. On the right is British Railways built 2-6-2T 5101 Class No 4165 waiting its turn to depart from the refuge siding with empty stock (see image 'gwrlm2428').
