GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Leamington Spa - BR Locomotives: gwrls2102
Ex-GWR 43xx Class 2-6-0 No 4375 stands at Leamington's down
platform with a local passenger service for Snow Hill in June 1957. Whilst many
of the local services were hauled by 2-6-2T locomotives a number were also
hauled by tender locomotives such as the above 43xx Class locomotive which at
the time was allocated to Stourbridge Junction. The four carriages have just
been brought to the platform from Leamington's carriage sidings which were
located adjacent to the shed. The basic set comprised 'Second, Brake Second
andComposite' plus other carriages as required to strengthen the service. Built
at Swindon to Lot 20 in November 1915, No 4375 remained in service until
January 1958 when it was withdrawn from Stourbridge Junction shed to be
scrapped by Swindon works.
