GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Leamington Spa - BR Locomotives: gwrls2149
Ex-GWR 4-6-0 61xx Class No 6001 'King Edward VII' is seen
arriving at Leamington at the head of an up service to Paddington. Built at
Swindon works in July 1927, No 6001 was the second member of the class as the
GWR had named No 6000 'King George V' after the then reigning monarch and the
worked backwards ignoring Queen Victoria and other Queens. No 6001 was to
remain in service until September 1962 when it was withdrawn from 84A Stafford
Road shed.
